We were looking for a restaurant with a nice terrace and we bumped into restaurant Réliva in the Goezeputstraat. I remembered that I was there almost three years ago, when they just opened. We chose a place in the shadow on the almost empty terrace, and we were impressed by the sublime view we had on the cathedral…
You have to admit it, there are not that many terraces in Bruges that can brag with this…
Réliva focusses on vegetarian and vegan recipes, and there are a lot of dishes on the menu. Great, since the vegetarian and vegan group mostly has to do the trick with a pasta or a vegetable burger.
The other dishes on the menu have an emphasis on fish, there’s a lunch for €25 for a starter, a main course and a coffee or a tea.
We ordered an aperitif with a plate of ham, and chose, since the nice weather, for some southern dishes. The gazpacho of bio tomato and cucumber, was fresh – just like it should be, the roasted bell pepper with zucchini strings was surprisingly tasty and different. Here they cook light dishes.
As main course, Annemieke chose the brill (fish of the day) with fennel and quinoa, I went for the bouillabaisse of fish out of the Northsea. Tasty flavours, generous portions, and light – just like before. For me the scallop tasted a bit too much like oranges. You could order matching wines (per glass) with every dish. The warm bread roll that accompanied the dishes was delicious, by the way.
The dessert menu is limited, and wasn’t very appealing to me. The chocolate mousse “great for the heart” with avocado was a bridge too far for me… Too bad, but a coffee with some chocolates could ease the pain… 😉
We dined wonderfully, and it surprised us that we were the only guest, maybe it was just a calm day. Réliva may not be in the picture that much, but you definitely have a nice meal here. We payed €120 for the two of us. The bell pepper costed €16 , which isn’t cheap – apparently bio has its price, but it was a generous portion.
If we would be looking for a sunny terrace with a view again, we won’t forget Réliva!
