On the Sasplein, between the Dampoortbridges, Sforno opened this week, an Italian restaurant.
The corner house is fully renovated, the facade is beautifully painted. In the inside, there’s a big pizza oven that catches the eye when you enter. The frames on the wall with Italian scenes are lovely as well. We got a seat on the terrace, ideal to see and to be seen… There are mainly pizzas on the menu, nicely classified into meat, fish or vegetarian spread. There are some pasta dishes and antipasti to start with. There’s flat bread with rosemary and sundried tomatoes as well, really lovely with the aperitif.
Annemieke chose the pizza spinaci, I went for the prosciutto e funghi and Marieke chose the antipasti, ham and mozzarella. Thereby we drunk a carafe grandiose house wine. The pizzas were super!
Thin crust, tasty dough and good ingredients made sure that we could taste one of the best pizzas of Bruges. Mariekes plate was well prepared, with a good-looking piece of ham and a royal portion mozzarella.
We finished with an espresso and got a homemade limoncello for dessert, that’s always welcome!
It’s obvious that they carefully thought about the restaurant and what they want to bring, the right ingredients are chosen, together with a neat interior and exterior. All combined this ensures a flying start, even after nine the place was crowded.
You can take away pizzas between 5 PM and 6:30 PM, and from 9 PM, otherwise it’s too busy in the restaurant to serve the take away-customers.
The bill wasn’t too bad, €60 for the three of us, prosecco included!
The Flemish owner and her Roman have three new fans!
